Canadian Living has pluses

Last night there was a loud bang and the lights went off.

But not on the other side of the street.  In other words a very localized outage when a small transformer blew,  at 9:30 p.m. on a holiday Monday on a relatively warm fall night. Hardly a crisis.  Ten minutes later a large fire engine drove down the back alley lights flashing.  A few minutes after they left a utility truck arrived. Men worked through the night.  Somewhere around 2:00 a.m. the Magpie reset the alarm radio.  At 5:00 a.m. the electric garage opener worked perfectly as I headed out to a municipal pool, maintained and staffed and available to me for less than three hours of minimum wage pay a month.

Yes, I’m feeling a warm surge of gratitude this morning. I’m feeling a mite pampered.

Mmm, yes indeed. I might feel guilty being pampered, but I do enjoy it.

At least we can recognize it as pampering.
